SGM会员通过实践佛法的哲理，改变自己和跨越自身问题，来解决人类和社会面临的挑战。通过参与社区活动，SGM会员亲身经历了“人间革命”（即个人的生命变革），成为贡献社区及产生正面影响的良好公民。

SGI会长池田大作每年都会发表一份和平倡言，探讨佛教核心概念及全球社会在努力实现和平与人类安全方面所面临的各种挑战，及其错综复杂的关系。这份倡言探讨废除核武器、可持续生活、人类安全以及建设一个全球和平社区所面临的严峻课题等。
