On 12 January, the annual National Youth Peace Assembly was held at Wisma Kebudayaan SGM to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the SGI’s founding on 26 January. SGM student division members presented a musical sketch depicting President Ikeda’s journey in pursuing peace.
In his opening remarks, Student Division Chief Koo Yee Heng reaffirmed the event’s purpose of studying President Ikeda’s philosophy and encouraged all participants to take the lead in fostering friendship and peace. SGM Youth Division Leader Andrew Looi then underscored 2025 as a pivotal year for the Soka Gakkai’s development as a world religion.
The musical sketch featured President Ikeda’s life from his youth, where he sought the path of life, to his encounter with his mentor, and finally to inheriting his mentor’s legacy, dedicating his entire life to the pursuit of world peace. The final scene, “The Vow of the Youth Emerging from the Earth,” featured the pledge of youth to expand the wave of peace, delivering a deeply moving performance.

Following this, the young participants engaged in small group discussions, sharing their reflections on the event and exploring ways to put Mr. Ikeda’s philosophy of peace into practice in their daily lives and communities.
General Director Koh Sia Feai emphasised the significance of the SGI’s founding and urged the youth to embrace their mission, pursue learning diligently, strengthen themselves, and play an active role on the global stage.
Since its launch in 2020, this annual event has brought together youth from across the country. This year, it was attended by some 300 youths, with an additional 1,000 viewers tuning in online.
