The Young Men’s and Young Women’s Divisions were founded on 11 and 19 July 1951, respectively. To commemorate their 73rd anniversaries, celebration meetings were held nationwide throughout July.
SGM Perak and Melaka celebrated the anniversaries on 20 July at their respective culture centres. In Perak, youth division members enjoyed lively dances and a discussion on happiness. Meanwhile, in Melaka, the focus was on “Friendship,” with young women’s division members crafting friendship bracelets for new acquaintances. The event also featured energetic gymnastics performance and inspiring experience sharing. The celebration concluded with a call for participants to build sincere friendships and pursue righteousness together.
In Pahang, a future division and student division camp took place at its culture centre from 19–21 July to mark the anniversaries. The camp featured a play based on the seven parables of the Lotus Sutra, discussions tailored to each division and a video with President Ikeda’s encouraging messages. Zone women’s division leader Kong Say Eien encouraged participants to actively broaden their circle of friendships.
On 21 July, the Greater Kuala Lumpur area held their celebration at the SGM Culture Centre with the theme “Run, Melos!” inspired by a Japanese story of the same name, as highlighted in President Ikeda’s encouragement. The event featured a play based on the story, along with experiences of overcoming challenges in studies, work, relationships and marriage, underscoring the five eternal guidelines for the young women’s division. SGM young women’s division leader Lee Kam Yit encouraged everyone to follow President Ikeda’s path, embracing his world-leading philosophy of life and working diligently towards their goals.
