Raja Puan Muda Perak Tunku Soraya Officiates “Worlds of Wonder” International Art Exhibition

On 30 August, Raja Puan Muda Perak Tunku Soraya Almarhum Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah officially opened the “Worlds of Wonder” International Art Exhibition at the SGM Perak Culture Centre.

The exhibition was coorganised by SGM Perak, Asian International Art Stream, Malaysia Perak Art Society, and Malaysian Tourism, Creativity, and Culture Vision Organisation (PROTAC). It featured artworks by 78 artists from 10 countries and territories, namely Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Turkey, Thailand and Vietnam.

During the opening ceremony, SGM General Director Koh Sia Feai described the international event as more than just an exhibition; he called it a celebration of unity, peace and shared human happiness. He also emphasised SGM’s commitment in promoting mutual understanding and respect for diverse cultures through art as a universal language.

PROTAC chairperson Datuk Mohamad Kamil Shafie expressed his gratitude to SGM for hosting the event, describing the culture centre as a hub that embodies the spirit of cultural exchange and promotes peace through art. He encouraged attendees to appreciate the diversity of artistic expression and to foster lasting friendships and cross-cultural collaborations through the exhibition.

During an interview after the opening ceremony, Raja Puan Muda Perak Tunku Soraya praised the exhibition as an outstanding platform for appreciating artworks from across the globe. She also gave positive feedback on the diverse range of artistic styles showcased in the exhibits.

Also present at the opening ceremony were ambassador of Romania in Malaysia HE Nineta Bărbulescu, Perak exco member YB Loh Sze Yee and the state legislative assembly deputy speaker YB Jenny Choy.

The exhibition ran from 29 August to 8 September, attracting over 3,000 visitors.

To complement the event, several workshops were held, including pottery sculpting, hydrangea crafting, keychain making and portrait painting. Furthermore, captivating calligraphy and painting demonstrations enriched the overall experience for visitors.
