In January, several SGM groups that support events behind the scenes held their training courses, marking the new year with renewed determination.
On 5 January, SGM Great Wall Group held an online meeting, attended by 123 of its members and men’s division leaders. The session involved a comprehensive review of the group’s activities in 2023 and outlined plans for upcoming events in 2024. Additionally, a member shared his victory report, highlighting the achievement of a new career milestone.
SGM men’s division leader Dr Christopher Boey highlighted that gongyo and daimoku are the keys to attaining victories in life.
Meanwhile, General Director Koh Sia Feai encouraged the participants to draw inspiration from President Ikeda’s unwavering determination, to protect the organisation and his mentor with his life. This commitment ensures the pure flow of Buddhism, and to combat evil.
On 6 January, Golden Bridge Group conducted a nationwide online training for some 110 members. Group leader Loke Weng Cheong provided insights into the group’s history, structure and guidelines, emphasising the responsibilities of translators and interpreters. Meanwhile, vice-leader Angela Ng shared an inspiring story of Soka Gakkai interpreter Lim Sze Yin, encouraging the participants to deepen their connection with President Ikeda. Additionally, Mr Koh highlighted the crucial role of interpretation in the development of Soka Gakkai.

On 14 January, SGM Greater Kuala Lumpur held a training course for Gajokai, Byakuren and Sokahan (GBS) members. The course aimed to revisit their prime point with mentor President Ikeda, reinforcing their spirit to protect the castle of Soka and the SGM members.
During the course, participants delved into the significance of establishing each group, the 2024 activity direction and reviewed emergency evacuation procedures. They also sang the theme songs of each group, shared their experiences in executing their duties and engaged in small group discussions.

SGM young men’s division leader Chang Chung Bin encouraged the participants to face challenges courageously, while youth division leader Andrew Looi stressed the importance of establishing a strong foundation of happiness through active involvement in their duties.
