“The Lotus Sutra – A Message of Peace and Harmonious Coexistence” exhibition concluded on 29 December 2024 at the SGI Asia Culture and Education Centre (ACEC) in Johor Bahru, attracting an impressive turnout of 46,840 visitors from 25 countries and territories since its opening on 18 October.
At the closing ceremony, SGM General Director Koh Seah Feai highlighted the significant contributions of over 1,400 working committee members, 64 percent of whom were youth. He remarked, “This is an exhibition driven by youth, and the enthusiasm and vitality they have shown are deeply inspiring.” Mr Koh also emphasised that the mission to promote peace ideals embodied in the Lotus Sutra will persist beyond the conclusion of the exhibition.
Exhibition organising committee chairperson Dr Christopher Boey also highlighted the dedication of the working committee members, ranging in age from 13 to over 70. He noted that, in addition to appreciating the profound philosophy of the Lotus Sutra, visitors frequently praised the attentive and thoughtful service provided by the committee.

As a coorganiser, the Institute of Oriental Philosophy (IOP), led by director Honorary Prof. Ryohei Tanaka, extended its congratulations on the success of the event and expressed hope for continued collaboration with SGM to promote the ideals of peace and coexistence.
As a partner, International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilisation of International Islamic University Malaysia (ISTAC-IIUM), represented by Dr Nurul Ain Norman, shared that the exhibition was not just a showcase of ideas, but a powerful reminder of the beauty that emerges when diverse communities unite with a common purpose.
The closing ceremony, broadcast live, was further energised by culture performances.
