Probably one of the most sensual dances ever, tango is much more than just a dance. Like a dramatic piece of theatre, love, hate, fear, jealousy, passion and desire are expressed.
Two exciting nights of tango entitled “The Four Seasons” were co-organised by the Tango Club KL and SGM and supported by the Embassy of Argentina. As part of the Kuala Lumpur Tango Festival on May 18 and 19, 2008, the show was held at the Wisma Kebudayaan SGM. Dancing to around six hundred people were three couples who were top echelon artistes, instructors or international competition winners, all with world-wide fame and awards. They are Fernanda Ghi and Guillermo Merlo, Ana Padron and Diego Blanco and Paola Jean Jean and Nicolas Cobo. Fernanda Ghi and Guillermo Merlo had created a stage show “Tango Dreams”, which was performed in major cities around the world, having their longest run in Tokyo, where their tickets were sold out nightly for eight weeks.
Entertaining the audience non-stop for almost ninety minutes each night, the couples danced all over the stage in varied rhythms with lots of kicks between each others’ legs. Despite some frequent, very quick and breathtaking movements, each couple moved as one, each partner supporting the other, emanating the beauty of unity and harmony, blossoming beautifully. Apart from that, all dances told stories or happenings within the four seasons, stories that all of us can easily relate to.
