On 17 February, the Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS), in collaboration with Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP), organised the MRCS Humanitarian Poetry Night themed “Beyond humanity” at the Tun Syed Nasir Cultural Hall, DBP in Kuala Lumpur.
SGM was invited to the poetry night held in conjunction with MRCS’s 75th anniversary, where three youth division members presented President Ikeda’s poems titled “Rakyat” (The People) and “Peace – The foundation for lasting human happiness” in Malay, English and Mandarin.
MRCS national chairperson YTM Tunku Temenggong Kedah Dato’ Seri DiRaja Tan Sri Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz Almarhum Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah said that poetry serves as a global language that transcends cultures to highlight the importance of humanity.
The event was officiated by Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek, who expressed that poetry is a beautiful literary form that allows people to reflect on life.
Twenty poets and guests took turns to recite poems, conveying their visions of humanity.
