On the evening of 25 November at 7.30pm, Soka Gakkai Malaysia held a memorial prayer at the Ikeda Peace Auditorium of the SGM Headquarters Culture Centre. The ceremony, held in memory of Soka Gakkai International President, Daisaku Ikeda, was broadcast live to around 100 venues across the country.
The prayer ceremony led by General Director, Koh Sia Feai, was attended by SGM leaders and members.
Following the prayers, Mr. Koh delivered a heartfelt message, acknowledging and honouring President Ikeda’s remarkable contributions to the happiness and peace of humanity. He highlighted President Ikeda’s life as an embodiment of an eternal mentor, exemplifying profound dedication and guidance.
The participants stood up solemnly to observe a minute of silence, paying the highest homage to the eternal mentor of kosen-rufu.
A video of President Ikeda’s 76 years of buddhist practice was screened, allowing participants to look back on his journey of faith.
Youth division representatives recited three poems written by President Ikeda before his passing, and delivered a powerful resolution that inspired many.
Young Women’s Future Division Leader, Ting Cheau Ya, vowed to cherish and nurture every high school division member to become the “torchbearers of justice;” meanwhile Young Women’s Student Division Leader, Koo Wei Qian, is determined to grow together with members of the student division – expanding the ranks of “courageous successors” fighting for peace.
Youth Division Leader, Andrew Looi, is also determined to take on all responsibilities of kosen-rufu and move towards 2030 to achieve the target of 150,000 members and establish a youthful network of Bodhisattvas of the Earth.
Heartfelt condolence messages from prominent Malaysian figures were read out in memory of President Ikeda, touching the hearts of those who were present.
