On May 7, 2017, SGM Perak held a sharing session on urban farming using the aquaphonics system at its SGM Perak Culture Centre. The speaker was Francis Chuah, an environmental engineer specialising in wastewater treatment and emissions control for almost a decade. He has been carrying out urban farming based on aquaphonics activities for some years now.
The speaker said that he got into urban farming in order to let children savour clean, health and nutritious fruits and vegetables. He emphasised that this method of farming helps contribute to environmental conservation, reduce soil pollution and build a green city. During the sharing, he showed the 110 participants how to build their own “ecosystem” consisting of live fish and vegetables.
This programme is a continuation of the SGM Perak World Peace Prayer Day event held that day. The participants also had a lively question-and-answer session with the speaker.
