SGM Participates in Malaysia’s 67th National Day Celebrations

On 31 August, 40 SGM youth division members took part in Malaysia’s 67th National Day celebration at Dataran Putrajaya, performing in a captivating dance titled “Cuci Rasuah” (Clean Up Corruption).

The performance was witnessed by over 100,000 attendees, including The King and Queen of Malaysia His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim and Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, deputy ministers, dignitaries and foreign delegates. It was broadcast live on television and across several social media platforms.

Raziff Abd Rahman, choreographer from the National Department for Culture and Arts (JKKN), commended the performance, highlighting the discipline and dedication of the SGM members, which significantly contributed to its success.

On that day, SGM members also played an active role in state-level celebrations. Thirteen youth division members from Negeri Sembilan participated in two dance performances at the Seremban City Council (MBS) field, alongside representatives from JKKN Negeri Sembilan and other organisations.

Sixty-one SGM Perak members joined the parade in front of Ipoh Town Hall, while 33 members from Melaka marched through the rain along Persiaran Jalan Merdeka, Banda Hilir. In Sabah, 36 SGM members who participated in a parade at Jalan Tun Fuad Stephens, Kota Kinabalu, were honoured with third place in a marching competition.

Meanwhile in Selangor, 50 SGM members participated in a parade at Ikeda Peace Park, Klang, alongside Sentosa assemblyperson YB Gunarajah George and local residents, among others.

Since 1985, SGM has been invited to participate in National Day celebrations, honouring President Ikeda’s call to be exemplary citizens and contributing to national unity.
