On 14 June, SGM secretary-general Tan Leng and SGM head of External Affairs and Communications Joanne Foo took part in a Focused Group Discussion (FGD) concerning the study of the Harmony Charter of Malaysia. This FGD was part of a series of sessions organised by the Institute of Islamic Understanding Malaysia (IKIM) and the Centre for Civilisational Dialogue, Universiti Malaya (UM).
Held at UM, this event brought together some 20 participants from various faith groups. The objective of the charter is to outline the key values necessary for fostering sustainable unity within the Malaysian community. It aims to strengthen the emotional bonds of unity, provide guidelines for interfaith interactions in the country, and serve as a unifying framework guided by the principles of the Rukun Negara and the Federal Constitution.
