The COVID-19 pandemic forced people to stay at home and led to greater Internet use among children for entertainment and information. To educate the public on the hidden dangers of the online world, SGM and Childline Foundation organised an online talk entitled “Our Lives Online: Keeping our Children Safe” in collaboration with Childline Foundation, which advocates child rights, child protection and child participation.Foundation director Datin PH Wong chaired the talk viewed by over 900 people.
Datin Wong, a lawyer and child rights activist, highlighted the types of risks children may be exposed to such as hazardous online games, social media addiction, cyber-bullying and unsuitable content for children. She discussed practical actions parents can take to keep their children safe, and urged parents to actively communicate with their children to build trust and understanding.
