On October 30, SGM Kedah held an online peace sharing session based on SGI President Ikeda’s 2021 Peace Proposal that attracted some 400 participants.
The event, themed “Join hands to create a global village, and let us move for peace,” aimed to inspire people to actively act for peace on Earth.
Student division members presented a creative skit where a person living in 2040 “travelled back in time” to 2020 to explore issues raised in President Ikeda’s peace proposals, including actions of solidarity that can be carried out amid the pandemic. Also discussed were establishing a culture of human rights, the significance of The Treaty for the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons and ways to rebuild life in a post-pandemic society. The “time-traveller” then resolved to contribute to society.
The session ended with SGM Kedah representatives, young and old, expressing their determination to create a humanistic society based on “peace starts with me.”
