(Klang, September 5) Under the initiative by the Sentosa State Assembly, a “Pro500 Trees Sentosa” tree planting programme was held at 9am on September 5.
This programme, which aims to plant 500 trees along Jalan Raja Nong and Jalan Sungai Jati in Sentosa area, Klang, is an effort to create awareness on the importance of maintaining green and landscape quality within our environment, reducing the effect of global warming, and instilling the culture of appreciating our ecosystems. The organiser hopes that the communities will continue to be committed in preserving the nature through such initiative.
This is a joint effort between the government agencies, various organisations, NGOs, corporate bodies and local residents. As an organisation that advocates the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, Soka Gakkai Malaysia (Selangor Branch) is proud to be invited to be part of this initiative and sponsored 50 Tecoma trees under this programme.
In his speech during the launching ceremony, SGM Deputy President, Johnny Ng commended that this initiative is a great example to show that no matter how challenging our current circumstances are, as long as people transcend all differences, unite and work towards achieving the same goal, be it addressing the Covid-19 pandemic or climate change, we can create the highest value amid this time of crisis.
