On July 19, 2020, SGM organised an online young women’s division (YWD) formation day commemorative general meeting. The Soka Gakkai young women’s division was formed on this date in 1951 and next year will be the 70th anniversary of its establishment.
In his congratulatory message, SGI President Ikeda encouraged the members, saying, “No matter what happens, as long as you continue chanting daimoku with faith in the Mystic Law, you can transform all sufferings into a source of inspiration for fresh advancement and all difficulties into wisdom to create new values in life.”
SGM YWD leader Magdelyn Choo also urged the members to wholeheartedly practise the five eternal guidelines of the YWDand build the foundation of happiness during their youth.
On June 4, 2009, President Ikeda gave five eternal guidelines to the YWD. First, be cheerful suns of happiness; second, study the world’s foremost life-philosophy; third, live your youth undefeated by anything; fourth, engage in dialogue to foster friendship and humanistic ideals and fifth, open the gateway to the eternal victory of mentor and disciple.
Towards the 20th anniversary of SGM Young Women’s Division Day on December 1 this year, the YWDs will practise one guideline each month from July 11 onwards.
In addition, SGM women’s division vice-secretary Wan Yoke Ping also encouraged the members to continue spreading voices that give comfort to the people, while SGM General Director Koh Sia Feai asked YWD members to establish a heart to seek out our great mentor, and become the lighthouse that illuminates the darkness, imparting hope and revitalising others.
In addition, a Facebook page titled “YWD 5 Eternal Guidelines” has been created. Information such as details and tips on how to practise the five eternal guidelines can be found within.
