‘A World without Nuclear Weapons’ – that was the topic of the SGM Peace Lecture held at the Tadika Seri Soka Auditorium on June 22, 1997. The speaker invited was Dato’ Dr Ronald S. McCoy who is one of the three copresidents of International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War (IPPNW) and chairman of Malaysian Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War (MPPNW). Delivered to a hall packed with about 450 listeners, mostly youths, the lecture highlighted the immense destructiveness of nuclear weapons and the pressing need for total nuclear disarmament.
