The SGM Beacon Group held a training course on 10 and 11 August, 2019 in the SGM Selangor Culture Centre. A total of 100 healthcare professionals, including doctors, dentists, traditional medicine practitioners, nurses, pharmacists, physiotherapists, dietitians, medical students and others attended the training course.
During a guidance session by SGM General Director Koh Sia Feai themed “Towards the 90th Anniversary of the Soka Gakkai: Engraving in Our Hearts and Living in Our Deeds The New Human Revolution” the participants studied in depth the mission of the Soka Gakkai.
Through studying SGI President Ikeda’s lecture on the Gosho “Letter to Misawa” together with Vice-General Director Pang Chok Wai, the participants renewed their vow to protect the Soka Gakkai. This was further strengthened following a tour of the Justice Hall in the Selangor Culture Centre led by Vice-General Director Johnny Ng and other SGM leaders.
Many of the participants shared their heartfelt resolutions with fellow participants. One women’s division leader recently overcame cancer and shared her determination to make a fresh start for kosen-rufu as a physician of the Mystic Law. A young men’s division leader shared his experience of overcoming the difficulties of studying medicine in a foreign country while another young man expressed his determination to intensify his efforts to contribute towards SGM’s New Dawn Block campaign, while a young women’s block leader shared her joy of conducting home-visits with other leaders in her block. One first-year medical student who is studying in an area where there are no members resolved to challenge himself to make a breakthrough by successfully introducing at least one new friend to Nichiren Buddhism.
At the concluding session of the training course, the participants were encouraged to wholeheartedly study SGI President Ikeda’s novel, The New Human Revolution, and at the same time, to earnestly encourage others to do the same. It was an inspiring and hope-filled training course with participants making fresh determinations to fulfil their mission as Bodhisattvas of the Earth who work in the field of healthcare.
