Sharing from Youth Training Course

In March 2018, eight SGM Youth Division representatives attended the SGI Youth Training Course while another 12 representatives participated in the SGI Spring Training Course held after the Youth Training Course.

Upon returning from Japan, the two batches of participants held a sharing meeting with SGM leaders nationwide on March 31, 2018 at the SGM Culture Centre, presenting the key points and messages from SGI President Ikeda. Their sharing was broadcasted live to 27 venues.

In his speech, SGM General Director Koh Sia Feai said that both training courses went smoothly, with President Ikeda watching closely over them. He believed that the journey would be a new prime point of faith for the participants.

During the sharing meeting, six representatives of Youth Training Course shared President Ikeda’s congratulatory message, the question-and-answer session chaired by Soka Gakkai Senior Vice-President Yoshiki Tanigawa, guidance by Soka Gakkai President Minoru Harada, dialogue session with SGI Women’s Leader Yumiko Kasanuki, kosen-rufu report by SGI Mozambique members and impressions after attending an exchange meeting at Adachi Ward in Tokyo. All speakers delivered their speech after thorough preparation, hoping to encourage all attendees to strengthen their faith.

The speakers also emphasised the importance of reading The Human Revolution and The New Human Revolution serialised novels, and that the disciple must rise up now to strive alongside the mentor and fully succeed the spirit of mentor and disciple.

Following the sharing by the youth, SGM Men Division Vice-Leaders Chang Meng Keng and Lim Tee Yen, and Headquarters Women Division Vice-Leader Lye Loy Hou shared their impression of attending the Spring Training Course which was held in Hokkaido, Japan. In the Soka Gakkai, Hokkaido is known as the “Citadel of the Three Founding Presidents.” Mr Makiguchi spent most of his youth in Hokkaido, while Mr Toda spent most of his early years there before moving to Tokyo. Succeeding the spirit of his mentor, President Ikeda built a vibrant kosen-rufu movement in Hokkaido through his own efforts.

The speakers mentioned that the ultimate way of the bodhisattva is through chanting daimoku and propagating the Mystic Law, which leads people to Buddhahood. They also shared with the audience the three guidelines given by President Ikeda during the opening of the Toda Memorial Cemetery Park in Atsuta, which are to transform ourselves through human revolution, expand the network of friends in the community and pass on the practice of faith to the next generation and foster them into capable persons.
