The English, Malay and Chinese editions of Innovative Printmaking: An Insight into Loo Foh Sang’s Techniques were officially launched on 5 July at Wisma Kebudayaan SGM. The book, published by Pelangi Publishing Group, documents Loo Foh Sang’s printmaking techniques in detail, offering insights into the processes and creativity involved.
Gracing the launch was Perbadanan Kota Buku CEO Adibah Omar, who expressed her admiration for Mr Loo for staying true to his passion and described the book as a national treasure. Meanwhile, SGM president Johnny Ng remarked that the artist’s contribution to the art world is immeasurable. The book’s author Wong Siew Lee, who was unable to attend, had her speech read on her behalf by editor-in-chief Tan Ee Len.
Mr Loo conveyed his dedication to preserving this unique art form and expressed his hope that the newly published book would serve as a guide for future generations, contributing to the ongoing development of art.
The Chinese version of the book was recently selected as one of the 200 Malaysian book titles representing Malaysia at the Beijing International Book Fair 2024 and will be presented to universities in China.
The launch was coorganised by SGM, Pelangi Professional, Atelier 11 and the Cultural Economy Development Agency (CENDANA).
