On 20 and 21 November 2024, local aesthetics researcher and museum curator Dr Koh Doh Tat conducted a training course at Wisma Kebudayaan SGM. It was attended by members of the SGM Navigator, Vanguard, Sunflower and Creative Groups, who are involved in exhibition organisation, as well as student division members.
Dr Koh provided a comprehensive overview of the history and roles of the British Museum, and highlighted its architectural features.
When introducing Musée d’Orsay, he shared insights into France’s historical and cultural evolution leading up to its establishment in 1986. He also highlighted its rich collection of French art, featuring masterpieces such as The Gleaners by Jean-François Millet and L’Absinthe by Edgar Degas.
While the course centred on the two iconic museums, Dr Koh underscored that the essence of art appreciation goes beyond renowned institutions, encouraging participants to explore other sites.
