On 15 December 2024, high school division members from SGM and the Soka Gakkai held an online exchange to mark the 60th anniversary of the junior high school division in January 2025.

Themed “A Rainbow of Friendship,” the exchange commenced with warm greetings from key leaders: Japanese high school division leader Hideyuki Sakurao, young women’s student division leader Kana Miyaoka and SGM future division leader Nelson Tan. They highlighted that setting aside differences and embracing individuality is essential for creating a beautiful rainbow of friendship, which serves as the first step towards achieving world peace.

Sixteen high school division members from Negeri Sembilan, Selangor and Kuala Lumpur then participated alongside 22 Japanese students in meaningful discussions. Topics covered included the purpose of education, personal characteristics, dreams and balancing academic responsibilities with Soka Gakkai activities.

In closing, Sakurao encouraged the participants to carry forward President Ikeda’s dedication to peace and strengthen the bonds of friendship. Inspired by the exchange that transcended borders and languages, many participants expressed renewed determination, saying, “I will boldly pursue my goals” and “I will take action for world peace.”
