On 8 June, 76 student division persons-in-charge (PICs) from across the nation, who volunteered to become narrators for ‘The Lotus Sutra – A Message of Peace and Harmonious Coexistence,’ gathered at the SGM Culture Centre for a kick-off meeting. The meeting aimed to enhance their understanding of the Lotus Sutra through workshops and discussion.
In his speech, SGM youth division leader Andrew Looi emphasised the importance of earnestly practising the Lotus Sutra and accumulating great fortune to attain happiness in life.
SGM student division leader Koo Yee Heng and young women’s student division leader Koo Wei Qian explained the core values of the Lotus Sutra and the significance of holding the exhibition.
Study department leader Chia Kok Peng encouraged the participants to embody the profound principles of Buddhism in their lives while “The Lotus Sutra” exhibition organising committee chairperson Dr Christopher Boey urged them to deepen their connection with President Ikeda through reading The New Human Revolution.
The next day, the participants embarked on their “I Seek Sensei” journey as they visited the Mentor and Disciple Peace Hall in Wisma Kebudayaan SGM. Aiming to achieve the 8,000-youth shakubuku goal this year, they resolved to engage in Buddhist dialogues with youths.
