On 22 and 23 June, 73 Junior Division persons-in-charge (PICs) in Sabah and Sarawak participated in a workshop held at the Sabah Culture Centre.
When discussing the missions of Junior Division PICs, SGM Junior Division Committee Leader Tan Boon See emphasised the importance of being a positive influence on junior division members and building strong relationships with their parents. Meanwhile, Vice-Leader Irene Wong shared effective stress management techniques. Psychologist Wong Siew Lee spoke about social emotional learning and taught the participants how to build healthy relationships.
Other sessions included an introduction to the SGM junior division magazine Treasure Crown and a sharing on effective strategies for supporting junior division members.
Feedback on the workshop included comments like, “The tips on emotional management were very helpful,” “I learnt many creative ways to organise meetings” and “I was reminded to view things from the children’s perspectives.” The PICs deepened their sense of mission and expressed their commitment to preparing engaging meetings that junior division members would truly enjoy.
