On 9 March, SGM General Director Koh Sia Feai conducted a study session online, explaining the significance of the Gohonzon. Deconstructing the term, he explained that “Go” means “worthy of honour” while “Honzon” stands for “object of fundamental respect or devotion.” He added, it was Nichiren Daishonin who manifested the Gohonzon, inscribing the fundamental law of Nam-myoho-renge-kyo.
Mr Koh also spoke about the inclusion of the representations of the Ten Worlds in the Gohonzon, which symbolise the potential for all living beings to manifest their inherent enlightened nature when illuminated by Nam-myoho-renge-kyo. Mr Koh also delved into ways to tap into the infinite power of the Gohonzon, among other pertinent topics.
