On 7 May 2022, founders of the “Loka Made” — a local arts brand in illustration and design — Chong Fei Giap and Audrey Chew shared their stories on the “Beyond the Visible” platform organised by Harmoni Soka Art and Culture (Harmoni).
In this gathering with some 300 attendees, Chong and Audrey shared the origin and ideal of “Loka Made,” how they transformed their creations such as pop-up cards, postcards, stickers and keychains into a business and their most memorable moments in the process.
Chong said that his sensitivity in arts prompted him to join this industry, and that the encouragement of “going with the flow” has enabled him to stay in this field for 15 years. He urged young people to stay focused on the targets they want to achieve as this is something lacking in people nowadays.
Meanwhile, Audrey mentioned that arts transcend all kinds of barriers and allow people to enjoy beautiful things. An encouragement from her mother to “go for it” and her team members’ support have inspired her to keep going in this field.
“Beyond the Visible” is a platform created by Harmoni for artists to share their stories behind their endeavours and also a space for the participants to exchange views with the artists.
