From 28–30 January, over 13,000 people gathered at 47 venues nationwide to welcome the Year of the Snake with Chinese New Year Gongyo Meetings. The venues were beautifully decorated, filled with smiles and brimming with festive cheer.
SGM General Director Koh Sia Feai and women’s division leader May Chan extended their New Year greetings via video to members nationwide. They attended the gathering at the SGM Culture Centre, where they warmly greeted participants. The venue came alive with vibrant performances, including a lion dance, traditional dance and an inspiring sketch on pursuing dreams and leading a life of value.

The gathering at the SGM Selangor Culture Centre was graced by the presence of Klang mayor Datuk Abd Hamid Hussain and Sentosa (Klang) assemblyperson YB Dr Gunarajah George, who conveyed their heartfelt wishes.
The festive spirit was further amplified by a dynamic lion dance, Chinese dance and uplifting songs by Miao Yin Chinese Orchestra. Attendees also enjoyed a lively sketch portraying the joy and traditions of Chinese New Year.
At the SGM Negeri Sembilan Culture Centre, youth division members captivated the audience with songs, a humorous sketch and a lively medley of New Year tunes. Meanwhile, at the SGM Kedah Culture Centre, members showcased their musical talents through instrumental performances on the ukulele, harmonica and piano.
At the SGM Melaka Culture Centre, the audience enjoyed a lively mix of entertainment, including dances, a sketch and a gymnastics performance. Meanwhile, at the Perak Culture Centre, a sketch was performed, highlighting the values of perseverance, kindness and courage. These meetings embodied the spirit of renewal, setting a joyous tone for the year ahead.
