On October 13, 2018, Tadika Seri Soka (TSS) held its 24th graduation ceremony at the SGM Culture Centre. Since its establishment in December 1994, TSS has fostered 3,596 alumni including 125 children this year.
In his message, TSS founder Daisaku Ikeda told the graduating children that “there are many people around the world who are looking forward very, very much to your great growth and development,” and that whether you are in a happy or difficult moment, “as long as you have a heart that remains undefeated and friends with whom you can mutually encourage, you will be able to overcome anything and grow even further.”
TSS Principal Madam Lye Loy Hou then expressed her deepest gratitude to all parents for supporting and trusting TSS by sending their children to the kindergarten for the past three years. Meanwhile, TSS Chairman Prof Dato Dr Christopher Boey led graduates in reading selected passages from Mr Ikeda’s message. He further urged them to “become a person with an undefeated heart who continues to be bright and cheerful like the sun of hope come rain or shine,” just as Mr Ikeda hopes.
Finally, all graduates presented a five-scene stage play based on Mr Ikeda’s children’s story The Princess of the Desert Kingdom. The play tells about how the princess and her friends broke through an impasse and protected the environment through the spirit of friendship, solidarity, courage, fearlessness and compassion. The six-year-old children played out the story, which included dances, winning the hearts of audience members.
During the finale, the graduates sang the theme song “Land of Harmony”, marking the end of the play and also their pre-school life, while advancing towards a new stage of life.
