SGM Kuala Lumpur Region 2 members living in the Petaling Jaya area and the Lions Club of Kuala Lumpur North embarked on their third successive blood donation, organ pledge and health awareness campaign. This time, the event was held at the concourse of Nexus Bangsar South, Kuala Lumpur on July 24. This campaign was part of both organisations’ endeavours to contribute to society.
Other than Nexus’ support as the venue sponsor, the event also received support from the National Blood Bank, the Leo Club of KL Unity and tenants of Nexus such as Sunfert, Klinik Pembangunan, Arteestic Dental, A3 Wellness and Vision Spa. Leo Club members of nearby schools also volunteered.

During the event, the Leo Club of KL Unity organised an organ donation pledge drive to encourage the public to pledge their organs for those who may need them. The tenants put up counters to provide free consultation to the public on various health issues such as fertility, dental hygiene, aging, blood pressure monitoring, weight management, pain management and vision well-being. Dr Teo Jed Yeow of Klinik Pembangunan gave a talk titled “Breaking the Aging Code”, which discussed slowing down the aging process, in the afternoon.
At the end of the event, 130 packets of blood were collected from members of the public, while 50 people signed up as organ donors. Several of them were first-time blood donors, and expressed happiness at being able to make a contribution for the good of society. Lions Club of KL North president Lion Lee Yeet Chuan and former Lions District 308B1 (which this club comes under) District Governor Lion Leong A Sam were also present, along with other officials of the club.
