Everyone essentially desires peace. Recognising that everyone plays a part in promoting a culture of peace, SGM undertakes initiatives that foster the empowerment of the people and respect for life. This includes raising awareness, especially among the younger generation on pressing issues such as nuclear disarmament, climate action and sustainable development.

Taking the historic declaration calling for the abolition of nuclear weapons on September 8 by Josei Toda, second president of Soka Gakkai as the starting point of Soka Gakkai’s Peace Movement, SGM has designated September as the Month of Peace. Strengthening our determination to treasure humanity and contribute to a peaceful world, SGM continues to promote, among other things, the importance of dialogue, values and ways of life that reject violence, the spirit of global citizenship and harmonious coexistence of living beings.
